Carriage of Dangerous Goods (CDG)

The Carriage of Dangerous Good Regulations must be followed for all hazardous waste shipments in the UK. Rubo offers fully compliant hazardous waste transportation services to our clients. How are dangerous goods classified?

Dangerous goods are classified using the ADR system, which assigns hazardous materials’ a:

  • UN Number - a unique reference number for all hazardous materials

  • Propper Shipping Name - Which is a unified name for materials to avoid confusion with product’s brand names, or other technical names

  • UN Classification - There are 9 different general classifications for materials With their own symbols (further details on This below)

  • Packaging Group - There are 3 packing groups, I, II & III, which specify requirements for the material’s packaging

With this information, it becomes easy to quickly identify hazardous materials, ensure their safe transport, and manger emergency response in the event of an accident.

Special provisions for hazardous waste:

For shipping hazardous waste ADR 5.4.1.1.3 states that:

The word "WASTE" should qualify other descriptions where applicable, and should appear before the "Proper Shipping Name".

What are the UN Classifications?

There are 9 different UN Classifications that describe the material’s hazards, each with their own pictogram. Class 1 are Exposlives, and Class 7 are Radioactive, Rubo does not deal with these materials so they are not displayed below.
